Meet Ezequiel

I believe that difficult times force us to make decisions.

My life was and still is a constant journey of decision making - from deciding whether to stay and live in Argentina or to start a new life in Ecuador, or, which route to take to continue my bicycle trip.

The changes and the challenges of improvement on a personal level are the ones that I have carried with me since I decided to start my trip around the world.

Travelling around the world not only became the dream I realized, but also a serious lifestyle.

A home going through turbulent moments in my adolescence pushed me, not only to spend nights on the streets but also to a search for change. What I didn't know back then is that this search for a change of scenery would also become a search for internal changes.

At the age of 18 I started a new life in Ecuador, full of doubts and fears. By making such a step, something had been injected into me that aroused curiosity for the rest of the world. More and more it became a ferocious hunger for adventure.

"In the world there are wonders that deserve to be seen, therefore the importance of their care is so essential. I want to show you everything that I will learn along the way to do so: the places and my appreciation, its people and their kindness.”

Let me tell you a little about myself. I am not going to make a great show of learning, nor can I offer a general and magical solution that will free one from problems or daily stress. In my personal case it has been a challenge and taken plenty of work for many years: mistakes, attempts and countless falls. But I have always gotten out again and have gotten up.

In my adolescence my surrounding was complicated. Personal struggles within my family and living in a tough neighborhood meant that I was always searching for relief from these day to day hardships. Sports gave me the solace I looked for, specifically, BMX. It gave me a feeling of safety and comfort.

Things went from bad to worse, and I found myself spending months living away from my mother, but in relative safety. Months went by, Christmas came and a New Year arrived.

Despite the hospitality of the home I had been staying, I was still devastated because I had lost my home - including my bike.

“The countless teachings that life leaves us will make us mature in many different ways, I believe that one never stops maturing."

Things went from bad to worse, and I found myself spending months living away from my mother, but in relative safety. Months went by, Christmas came and a New Year arrived. Despite the hospitality of the home I had been staying, I was still devastated because I had lost my home - including my bike.

Things got better, just for a while. I went back to my house, my mother was feeling better and so was my step-dad. But as life is a circle, there are relapses.

My home life soon reverted back being unbearable, and things ended up being even more difficult than they had been before I moved away. Being surrounded by so much struggle and witnessing violence, not only amongst my family members, but also directed at me, left me completely broken.

With nowhere to go, I took only the clothes on my back, my documents and my school bag, and left. I stayed with my paternal grandmother for a few weeks waiting for my father to come from Ecuador. Since then the situation improved and I finally finished school with an average of 9 out of 10. My father and I moved far away. For a holiday, he took me on a camping trip to connect with nature and myself (that's where I learnt about this world of travel and adventure on the road) afterwards, I ended up living in Ecuador.

Many years passed until I finally pulled myself together and became independent. I had many jobs, I even made my own business selling and distributing Argentinean empanadas. I found love many times, disappointments and I found friends who are worth the most. I learned to fight, not to give up and whatever problems occur, the most important is how you face them.

I want everyone to understand why I think it is important to tell this part of my story, because of this I am what I am today. Not only as a result to what I lived through - since you don't have to experience the same things as I did to allow your personality to grow-

My story is about not being defeated by life's circumstances; it is about facing the struggle, about getting up when falling down and about helping those who are in a similar need.

Never give up and spread love as I try to do. I’d be happy if you could join the mission and follow my journey below.
